Thus the covenant of grace forms the heart of salvation itself. Perkins wrote, "We are to know God, not as he is in himself, but as he hath revealed himself unto us in the covenant of grace; and therefore we must acknowledge the Father to be our Father, the Son to be our Redeemer, the holy Ghost to be our comforter, and seek to grow in the knowledge and experience of this.

In damnation, the sinner receives what he deserves; in salvation, the saved sinner receives what he does not deserve. Judgment is all of merit; salvation is all of grace.

Of all the things you must earn in life, God's unending affection is not one of them. You have it.

Since this life is God's and cannot die, it follows that everyone born anew into possessing this life is said to have eternal life.

Jesus came to live the life we could not live and to die the death we deserve to die.

Christmas means giving. The Father gave his Son, and the Son gave his life. Without giving there is no true Christmas, and without sacrifice there is no true worship.

The life blood streaming thro' my heart, Or my more dear immortal part, Is not more fondly dear.

Bread of Life? Jesus lived up to the title. But an unopened loaf does a person no good. Have you received the bread? Have you received God's forgiveness?

God alone has the secret of eternal life and joy.

The Gospels and the rest of the New Testament reflect the life of Jesus, what it means for us & what it means for the world.

Jesus has given me eternal life in Him. Let them take my life here, but God holds me in the palm of His hand and no one can take Him from me.

At this time of Christmas, this season when gifts are given, let us not forget that God gave His Son, and His Son gave His life, that each of us might have the gift of eternal life.
