He's into the slower rhythms of life, like abiding, delighting, and dwelling—all words that require us to trust Him with our place and our pace.

Dear Lord, I want to wait in calm and patient expectation today. Please take my exhaustion and turn it into expectation; take my feelings of hopelessness and give me real hope. I want to stop resisting Your truths and start applying them. I will do all that I can today, and I will wait with anticipation for all that You will do through me. In Jesus' name. Amen.

But disappointment isn't proof that God is withholding good things from us. Sometimes it's His way of leading us Home.

The numbers hadn't changed yet, but my heart had.

If this now broken relationship was Your best, You wouldn't have kept me from it. And if it is Your best sometime in the future, the enemy won't be able to keep us apart.

To trust God is to trust His timing. To trust God is to trust His way. God loves me too much to answer my prayers at any other time than the right time and in any other way than the right way.

Lord God, I know You often work in ways I don't understand. There are parts of my story that feel incredibly hard to live in, but I trust You are making something beautiful even out of those parts of my life. In Jesus' name, amen.

God has the most amazing way to work in the unseen details of life and work out His plan despite our stubbornness.

Still, even when it seems otherwise, we must remember that sometimes when we feel rejected and passed over for someone else, when God seems busy elsewhere or even purposefully unmoving, the truth is He is at work, maybe doing something entirely beyond what we were thinking.

We cannot control our outcomes. We cannot formulate how the promises of God will actually take shape. And we will never be able to demand any of the healing from all the hurt to hurry up.

God loves us too much to answer our prayers in any other way than the right way. And He loves us too much to answer our prayers at any other time than the right time.

C. S. Lewis said it best: "We are not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be.
