I read R.D. Laing, I read Victor Frankl. Anything by Ken Kesey or Peter Matthiessen, Gary Snyder, Jack Kerouac, Alan Ginsberg, R. Crumb, Bob Dylan. These sacred texts are passed from one hand to another like relics of a religious past or harbingers of a new faith.

Hunger for God's Word like food. Thirst for it like water. Soak in it like a jacuzzi. Put it on like a garment. Weave it into your soul so that it becomes part of the fabric of your life. When you do, you won't just be trudging up the trail. You will be dancing in the footlights.

God's power is not cheap. Just like the electric power that comes into our homes, there is a price to pay for it. Only the price is not monetary. The price is spending time filling ourselves with God's Word so we can understand the power. It's praying so we can access the power. It's living in obedience so we can maximize the power. It's praising and worshiping God so that we open up the lines through which God's power flows into our lives.

When you live by God's Word, your life works. When you live without God's Word, life doesn't work. God's Word builds you up, feeds your soul, and gives you strength, direction, guidance, hope, encouragement, and faith. Remember that He gave you His Word so that you would know Him and the way He wants You to live.

Lord, Your Word is a love letter to me, showing me how much You love me. And every time I read it, I love You more.
