But this journey is so much more than just that. It really is about learning to tell myself no and learning to make wiser choices

a pattern of wise choices in the ordinary paves the road to a demonstration of wisdom in the extraordinary.

It's Good to Ask the "What" Questions but Less Helpful to Ask "Why

What's a decision you are in the midst of making? Chase it down. If you do this, where will it most likely lead? And then what? And then? Keep going until you walk it all the way out.

Let me pull you close and whisper a heart-stopping truth. That daily stuff—those responsibilities that seem more like distractions—those things we want to rush and just get through to get on with the better and bigger assignments of life—those things that are unnoticed places of service? They are the very experiences from which we unlock the riches of wisdom. We've got to practice wisdom in the everyday places of our lives.

And honestly, I'm tired of knowing I have issues but having no clue how to rein them in on a given day. I need something simple. A quick reality check I can remember in the midst of the everyday messies.

Paul asked over and over and over again for wisdomSo should we. We need to ask for God's wisdom, revelation, and intervening power to be an integral part of our food choices from now on.

Just because I want something, doesn't mean it's God's best for me. Just because I can do something, doesn't mean I should do it...I have the right to do anything, but not everything is constructive.

I often pray this prayer: I need wisdom to make wise choices. I need insight to remember the words I've read in scripture. I need power beyond what I can find on my own.

If we want His direction for our decisions, the great cravings of our souls must not only be the big moments of assignment. They must also be the seemingly small instructions in the most ordinary of moments when God points His Spirit finger saying, Go there.

No human is strong enough to withstand seeing too much of God's plan in advance. It must be revealed daily. And we must be led to it and through it slowly.
