Do we want to combat the fear in our lives? The battle is not ours. The battle belongs to the Lord. Jesus has already taken the sling and the stone and slain the giant. The giant of fear has already fallen. The work is already done by Christ on the cross. Our responsibility is to have faith. That's the antidote. God is able. Jesus is enough. When we set our eyes on him, we will not be shaken. We will rest secure.

Have you ever been abandoned? Left behind? Sold out? Maybe not dropped literally down a dry hole, but that's how you felt.

The antidote to fear is faith, and the soundtrack of faith is worship.

Jesus promises in Psalm 23 that peace, victory, and freedom will come in the midst of problems, pain, and loss. That's how we develop an 'even though' kind of faith. We live by knowing that, in the midst of a broken world, God Almighty is with us.

Dear Lord, when storms come—in the skies, in the people around me, or in my heart—help me to remember that You are right there with me and that You are bigger than any storm!

We are more often frightened than hurt and we suffer more from imagination than from reality.

It may amuse you to hear a Story. A few days ago, in Company with Dr Zubly, somebody said, there was nobody on our side but the Almighty. The Dr. who is a Native of Switzerland, and speaks but broken English, quickly replied 'Dat is enough.

Yet often these people who are "on our side" are offended as well. So, instead of helping, we stack additional stones on our existing walls. Without our knowing when it happens, these walls of protection become a prison. At that point, we are not only cautious about who comes in, but in terror we cannot venture outside our fortress.

When the plan of God for my life causes me to face my hurts and wrongful attitudes, I will not run from these things but will find healing and restoration from dealing with my hurts through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The promise is nothing without Your presence!

Discouragement occurs in deserts or battles from focusing on ourselves rather than on God and our mission.

But was you not afraid, good sir, when you see him come with his club? It is my duty, said he, to distrust mine own ability, that I may have reliance on him that is stronger than all.
