The reason he kept going was that God got hold of his heart. And he did the same for me. I'm so ashamed of what happened back there. How we let our passions run. We hurt a lot of people. And we've lived with that. But

The grace of God has no charms for men till the Holy Spirit gives them a taste for it.

My good works, however wretched and imperfect, have been made better and perfected by Him Who is my Lord: He has rendered them meritorious. As to my evil deeds and my sins, He hid them at once. The eyes of those who saw them, He made even blind; and He has blotted them out of their memory.

Grace never ignores the awful truth of our depravity; in fact it emphasizes it. The worse we realize we are the greater we realize God's grace.

We will never be cleansed until we confess we are dirty. And we will never be able to wash the feet of those who have hurt us until we allow Jesus, the one we have hurt, to wash ours.

You don't have to live with a dehydrated heart. Receive Christ's work on the Cross, the energy of his Spirit, his lordship over your life, his unending, unfailing love. Drink deeply and often. And out of you will flow rivers of living water. from Come Thirsty
