When the point person in an organization strives for balance, he potentially robs other leaders of an opportunity to perform at the top of their game.

This goes right to the heart of leadership. Leaders instill courage in the hearts of those who follow. This rarely happens through words alone. It generally requires action. It goes back to what we said earlier: Somebody has to go first. By going first, the leader furnishes confidence to those who follow. In this way, leaders give permission.

According to Stephen Covey, delegating to others is perhaps the single most powerful high-leveraging activity there is. There are people who love what you hate. Strengthen your team by setting them free to do what only they can do. In that way you will ensure that your organization reflects your strengths as well as the strengths of those around you.

Regardless of whatever I do, I know what my purpose is: to make a difference in people's lives.

Everything rises and falls on leadership.

I will heighten my life by helping others heighten theirs.

Strength is given us for service, not to convey status (see Romans 15:2). I wonder how much trouble would be averted in the world at large if everyone knew and adhered to this principle. What if we knew that our strength was to serve the weak, fearful, or timid? It would all be good!

We do not fight to tear down but to build up.

If you want to give light to others you have to glow yourself.

Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.
