She found peace in the assurance that they had both served as the Lord wished. With tears of thanksgiving upon her cheeks, she thanked her Lord for relief of the dark despair that had threatened to consume her. There was reason to go on. And she had God's promise. And though she missed Stephen with all her heart, knowledge that the Lord was with her was enough.

One of the greatest gifts we can give people is the hope that their death is nothing to fear - you know, not that it has no fear in it, but the promise of scripture is that God will lead us through the valley of the shadow of death.

God doesn't promise to keep the storm away, but He says He'll be with me through it. My faith won't protect me from the loss, but it will carry me and keep me from despair.~page 195

Worry and anxiety are not great thoughts; faith in God's promise is.

God's wisdom is not, and never was, pledged to keep a fallen world happy, or to make ungodliness comfortable.

The hope of eternal life is not to be taken up upon slight grounds. It is a subject to be settled between God and your own soul; settled for eternity. A supposed hope, and nothing more, will prove your ruin.

If you will come back and make that pledge, God will heal your heart tonight.

Love is the only future God offers.

The simple statement, 'God is for us', is in truth one of the richest and weightiest utterances that the Bible contains.

God's love to us cannot fail any more than His love to Christ can fail.

Engage in specific prayer. And engage in promise-based prayer. Stand on the firm foundation of God's covenant. "Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence" (Heb. 4:16 NIV).

Are you feeling exposed to the storms of life? Read Psalm 91, a wonderful promise from God. When we love him and tell others about that love, he moves to protect us. "I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them" (v. 15 NLT).
