Crystal clear roles characterize high performance teams. Every team member is clear about his or her particular role as well as those of the other team members.

We can't all be captains; we've got to be crew. There's something for all of us here. There's big work to do and there's lesser to do and the task we must do is the near. If you can't be a highway, then just be a trail, if you can't be the sun, be a star; it isn't by the size that you win or you fail, be the best of whatever you are!

We don't consume the merits of Christ or the services of the church. We are participants, not spectators.

There is a use for everyone.

If we removed the status and compensation from the destructive exploits we classify as "manly," men would be found to be suffering as much as women. They would be found to be suffering for the same reason: they are in exile from the communion of men and women, which is their deepest connection with the communion of all creatures.

Any object not interesting in itself may become interesting through becoming associated with an object in which an interest already exists. The two associated objects grow, as it were, together; the interesting portion sheds its quality over the whole; and thus things not interesting in their own right borrow an interest which becomes as real and as strong as that of any natively interesting thing.

When a man unites with the church, he should not come saying, "I am so holy that I think I must go in among the saints," but, "O brethren, I find I am so weak and wicked that I cannot stand alone; so, if you can help me, open the door and let me enter."

We allow our ignorance to prevail upon us and make us think we can survive alone, alone in patches, alone in groups, alone in races, even alone in genders.

I want to be useful for the team, depending on whatever position the coach chooses for me. That's the spirit I've always had.

No Christian needs to feel lonely or useless.

All that is valuable in human society depends upon the opportunity for development accorded the individual.
