If we lose the present moment, we lose life.

What is happening in the present moment is life.

If we continue to hold on to a dream for something in the future, we lose the present moment. And if we lose the present, we lose everything.

Often our thinking goes around and around in circles, so we lose all our joy in living.

Make the practice pleasant, that is what I beg you to do.

True happiness isn't found in success, money, fame, or power. True happiness should be found in the here and the now. With that kind of insight you can truly relax.

We must begin to live fully and truly, every moment of our daily lives.

Contemplating a beautiful sunrise, you're not distracted by thinking about the past or the future. The more concentrated you become, the more you see the beauty all around you. So concentration is a source of happiness.

The greatest miracle is to be alive.

When we go home to the present moment, we understand there are so many conditions of happiness that we don't need to go running after yet another one. We already have enough conditions to be happy. Happiness is entirely possible right in the here and now. The

Start where you are. The past is gone, the future is not yet here, and if we do not go back to ourselves in the present moment, we cannot be in touch with life.

To practice the Four Noble Truths, you yourself have to touch deeply the things that bring you peace and joy. When you do, you realize that walking on the Earth is a miracle, washing the dishes is a miracle, and practicing with a community of friends is a miracle. The greatest miracle is to be alive.
