If there is sin against life, it consists¦ in hoping for another life and in eluding the implacable grandeur of this life.

The devil has put a penalty on all things we enjoy in life. Either we suffer in health or we suffer in soul or we get fat.

Sin is what you do when your heart is not satisfied with God. No one sins out of duty. We sin because it holds some promise of happiness. That promise enslaves us until we believe that God is more desired than life itself.

Death is not natural for a state as it is for a human being, for whom death is not only necessary, but frequently even desirable.

Yet, by men in this country, as by the Jews, when Moses was leading them to the promised land, everything has been done that inherited depravity could do, to hinder the promise of Heaven from its fulfilment. The cross, here as elsewhere, has been planted only to be blasphemed by cruelty and fraud.

Karma means that all actions have consequences. Grace means that in a moment of atonement -taking responsibility, making amends, asking for forgiveness - all karma is burned.

Forgiveness costs us nothing. All our costly obedience is the fruit, not the root, of being forgiven. That's why we call it grace.

You can't make yourself saved. This is very threatening to people, even Christians, because of what it seems to say about freedom.

I want my food dead. Not sick, not dying, dead.

Sin always overpromises and underdelivers, while righteousness pays dividends for eternity... Nothing is more illogical than sin. It's the epitome of poor judgment. It's temporary insanity with eternal consequences. And we have no alibi, save the cross of Jesus Christ.

But Paul knew that his sin was nailed to the cross, and the hammer of God's mercy has no claw.

God is a holy God. He will judge the wicked. All people on the face of the earth have broken the laws of God. It is pretty easy to see that from up here. A good person is such a relative term. People might think they are good down there, but there are only two categories on the other side: lost and saved. That's it. He made it pretty simple. They have sinned, and God provided a Savior. Now it is their choice to decide what to do with Him.
