And then her heart changed, or at least she understood it; and the winter passed, and the sun shone upon her.

The world has changed. I see it in the water. I feel it in the Earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it.

If you are not in the process of becoming the person you want to be, you are automatically engaged in becoming the person you don't want to be.

Christianity teaches that the world is broken, and this brokenness is out fault. And the only way it can be fixed is through God's work. It's a work that only God can do and there are no other options. The biblical teaching is consistent on this point. This is not about the Bible being intolerant or sounding crazy. It's simply an ancient story stemming back to the creation, a story of one God who sent one Savior, Jesus, to be the way to relate to him and be in relationship with him.

Jennings, barely listening to the little girls' chatter, sat amazed at the way life continued. He was not the same person.

Comfort and familiarity are not what God points us toward. Jesus isn't in the business of flying to and fro for the rest of our lives, hand-delivering spiritual baby food to us.

I know a lot of us feel like that. We come to a place where we're walking through the fires and trials of life, and we don't know where to turn. What we need is a fresh start. We need our story to go in a new direction. What we need is a comeback of our own.

Don't dismiss the idea of a comeback if you're someone who is already saved and walking faithfully with the Lord. You may need a fresh start after you find that your dreams—holy dreams—have crashed into pieces at your feet.

Sometimes we blow it, make terrible choices, and need to come back from our own sin, failure, and mistakes. There was a dream in your heart, and you believed your life would unfold according to that dream. Yet your decisions knocked that dream off the rails.

God can do great things, work real transformations, but we need to let him take it down to the heart.

We'll never be able to do what God purposes unless we let God take away all the facades and rip off all the layers of gunk surrounding our hearts. We need God's power to start working at the base.

God starts with who we've become, and then he works his way to how we live.
