People don't want to be managed. They want to be led. Whoever heard of a world manager? World leader, yes. Education leader, yes. Political leader. Religious leader. Scout leader. Community leader. Labor leader. Business leader. Yes. They lead.

If you want to be a successful leader, learn to lead before you have a leadership position.

The greater the impact you want to make, the greater your influence needs to be. Whatever you will accomplish is restricted by your ability to lead others.

Character communicates consistency Leaders without inner strength can't be counted on day after day because their ability to perform changes constantly. NBA great Jerry West commented, "You can't get too much done in life if you only work on the days when you feel good." If your people don't know what to expect from you as a leader, at some point they won't look to you for leadership.

Are you doing what you ask others to do?

When leaders learn and live good values, they make themselves more valuable and lift the value of other people. That is the foundation of positive leadership.

People who lack vision almost always lack passion. Incompetent leaders are ineffective and they often stay that way.
