In this way the godly are filled with the Holy Spirit, so that they cannot keep from breaking forth into thanksgiving, confession, glorifying God, and teaching and proclaiming the Word of the Gospel.

Prayer is not about informing or persuading God but about connecting with Him in relationship. He is looking for conversation and dialogue with

Holiness is doing God's will with a smile.

Jesus, to be sure, often spent long times alone in prayer. But he was also deeply at home where there was a party, a kingdom party, a celebration of the fact that God was at last taking charge.

And the Christian who knows what he or she is about will constantly reflect that the most natural modes of God-talk are adoration, thanksgiving, confession, supplication and proclamation, not theorization.

The mode in which that glory is to be seen in the present is praise. "I will sing praise to my God while I have being." The glory of God, said the theologian Irenaeus, is a human being fully alive.

Life's blows cannot break a person whose spirit is warmed at the fire of enthusiasm.

When you get up in the morning, you have two choices - either to be happy or to be unhappy. Just choose to be happy.

Each day is a special gift from God, and while life may not always be fair, you must never allow the pains, hurdles, and handicaps of the moment to poison your attitude and plans for yourself and your future. You can never win when you wear the ugly cloak of self-pity, and the sour sound of whining will certainly frighten away any opportunity for success. Never again. There is a better way.

Am I as spontaneously kind to God as I used to be, or am I only expecting God to be kind to me? Am I full of the little things that cheer His heart over me, or am I whimpering because things are going hardly with me? There is no joy in the soul that has forgotten what God prizes.

Moods never go by praying, moods go by kicking. A mood nearly always has its seat in the physical condition, not in the moral.

There are not three levels of spiritual life--worship, waiting, and work...God's idea is that the three should go together as one.
