God measures people by the small dimensions of humility and not by the bigness of their achievements or the size of their capabilities.

Confrontation is the special business of young people. They confront their parents, peers, society, law enforcement officers, and themselves, but primarily they confront God.

Any Christian whose interest is directed toward himself is worldly.

What is the authority in your life? Is it your selfishness? Your lust? Your greed? Or have you turned it all over to God and said, "Lord, You are going to be my authority"? When you are under authority, you are then able to assume authority.

God is not interested in using the mighty, but the willing. He is not into using amazing people, just ones who are prepared to lay their lives down before Him. God is not looking for extraordinary, exceptionally gifted people, just laid-down lovers of Jesus who will carry His glory with transparency and not take it for themselves.

I was brought up by great parents and great grandparents who told me, 'Never, ever think that you're better than anyone else or that what you do is so important that the world won't miss you once you're gone,' and I kind of translate that into the stardom thing.

Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues: hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance.

Nevertheless, faithfully interrogate your own souls, whether ye have not been unduly puffed up by your integrity, and continence, and chastity; and whether ye have not been so desirous of the human praise that is accorded to these virtues, that ye have envied some who possessed them.

Do what Jesus says,... what he commands through his ministers who are in the Church [see 1 Cor 6:4]. Be subject to his vicars, your leaders, not only those who are gentle and kind, but even those who are overbearing.

Our obedience has its origin in God's prior action, and forgetting that truth results in self-righteousness, pride, and despair.

Sadly, the truth is, there aren't many people who can be put in high positions who won't start thinking highly of themselves.
