Become grounded in the Bible. As Christians, we have only one authority, one compass: the Word of God.

Coleridge said he believed the Bible to be the Word of God because, as he put it, "It finds me." "If you want encouragement," John Bunyan wrote, "entertain the promises.

We should begin the day with the Bible, and as it comes to a close let the Word speak its wisdom to our souls. Let it be the Staff of Life upon which our spirit is nourished. Let it be the Sword of the Spirit which cuts away the evil of our lives and fashions us in His image and likeness.

The Bible is God's love letter to us.

Joy is produced in our hearts when we know that God loves us, when we have a close relationship with Him through reading His Word, praying, and desiring to honor Him in all that we do, and by serving others.

Man's nature and destiny are revealed in the Scriptures.

When I quote Scripture, I know I am quoting the very Word of God.

Your spiritual life needs food . . . where do you find [this]? In the Bible, the Word of God. The Bible reveals Christ, who is the Bread of Life for your hungry soul, and the Water of Life for your thirsty heart.

God has not promised to bless my thoughts, but He has promised to bless His Word.

There is no room for God's Word in our culture, where our children are without reverence for God or faith in the Bible. There is no room for our Lord's creed of purity and self-denial when the media sends forth a constant barrage of profanity and indecency and materialism.

Nothing will help us grow spiritually more than spending time alone with God every day, reading His Word and praying. Time alone with God is essential to our spiritual welfare.

God's Word not only gives authority to one's ministry; it provides a solid foundation for one's life.
