Keep busy. The worried person must lose himself in action, lest he wither in despair.

William James tells us that we cannot instantly change our emotions just by making up our minds to-but that we can change our actions. And that when we change our actions, we will automatically change our feelings.

The life of faith can be called the life of the will since faith is impervious to how one feels but chooses through volition to obey God's mind. Though the Christian may not feel like obeying God

The perfect and genuine faith is that which daily acknowledges the works (i.e., facts) that the Lord has accomplished. The meaning of claiming is to acknowledge daily all that the Lord has accomplished for us, that is, to acknowledge that all these accomplishments are effective in us. Then

Pray like it all depends on God, then when you are done, go work like it all depends on you.

That Religion is not devotion, but work and suffering for the love of God; this is the true doctrine of Mystics.

If we don't put our faith to work we will soon discover that we have a faith that doesn't work!

We admit no faith to be justifying, which is not itself and in its own nature a spiritually vital principle of obedience and good works.

Without moral progress, stimulated by faith in God, immorality in all its forms will proliferate and strangle goodness and human decency. Mankind will not be able to fully express the potential nobility of the human soul unless faith in God is strengthened.

It can't be any other way. If salvation is to affect our lives, it can do so only by affecting our bodies. If we are to participate in the reign of God, it can only be by our actions. And our actions are physical—we live only in the processes of our bodies. To withhold our bodies from religion is to exclude religion from our lives. Our life is a bodily life, even though that life is one that can be fulfilled solely in union with God.

The biblical stories know absolutely nothing of blind "leaps of faith," as that phrase is now understood. Such "leaps" are a pure fantasy imposed upon those stories and upon the religious life by the prejudices and tortured turns of modern thought.

Works are simply a natural part of faith. James's statement is about the inherent nature of faith, about what makes it up. It concerns what believing something really amounts to. It is not an exhortation to prove that one has faith or to work to keep one's faith alive.
