The Christian life from start to finish is based upon this principle of utter dependence upon the Lord Jesus.

And in His will is our peace.

Poise can seem like a superficial posture, almost like one is acting as if everything is okay when things really aren't. I believe true poise goes much deeper and is a reflection of what we really believe inside of us. Paul's confidence in the goodness of God was so strong and sure that not even an empty belly threw him off his game. He was content whatever. I know my God is good, and I want to show that to the world, whatever.

I realized that my identity was not in my leading but in my relationship with God.

To trust someone is to believe that he or she has your best interests in mind, that the person will protect you from harm and is reliable.

Whenever we make a decision about something, most of us want to be sure, beyond any doubt, of what is absolutely true. That will never happen spiritually. We're talking about God, and there is no way you can get every question about him answered. If you could fathom everything that there is to know about God, he'd be no bigger than your mind—no larger than your intellect—and that would be a small God. The goal isn't to get every answer, but enough answers.

With God there is no potential for fraud, deception, contamination, or disaster.

Satan mounts his mutiny against God through a deceitful stronghold: God is untrustworthy. In subtle and not-so-subtle ways, he places God's heart on trial by whispering insidious lies: "God is holding back on you. He wants you to jump through hoops in order to earn His love. He's stingy. He doesn't have your best interest in mind. You're better off trusting in yourself. Your resources and functional saviors work better then waiting and trusting in Him.

We must rip the foundations out from under all the bastions of human reasoning that say, "I don't need God!" We must demolish every non-God story of life. We must pulverize every God-is-not-good life narrative.

Counseling is ultimately not about the counselee or the counselor, but about the Divine Counselor.

When the people of God are not told the works of God, they lose the wonder of God, and everyone does that which is right in his or her own eyes.

The role of biblical counselors is facilitate the discovery of a greater God awareness through spiritual eyes that look at life through scriptural lenses.
