I believe that many of our pressing racial problems will be taken care of when we who are among the minorities will stand on our own feet and refuse to look to anybody else to save us from our situation.

I also believe that God has an overall plan for people's lives and the details get worked out along the way, even though we usually have no idea what's going on.

We were very poor. But between the covers of books I could go anywhere, I could be anybody, I could do anything. I began to read about people of great accomplishment. As I read those stories, I began to see a connecting thread. I began to see that the person who had the most to do with you and what happened to you in life, is you. You make decisions. You decide how much energy you want to put behind that decision.

Often when God does not readily give us what we want, it is because He knows what our desire would cost us. Faith sometimes means forgoing our desires because we trust Christ to have a better plan for our lives.

God chose David. On the surface, the choice made no sense. But God doesn't work on sense; He works on grace. God called you, and God called me. He knew what He was doing.

You and I need to obey God. When we do, the consequences of our obedience become God's problem and not ours.

For the most part we've dumbed-down New Testament Christianity and accepted our reality as theology rather than biblical theology as our reality. We've reversed the standard, walking by sight and not by faith. We want to be the best of what we see, but frankly what we see is far removed from God's best.

A big difference exists between trying to manipulate God to give us what we want and cooperating with God so He can give us what He wants.

More than any other faith challenge I face, believing that I am who God says I am necessitates choosing what God says over what I feel.

Live by faith. Live out loud. And never stop believing God—day by day.

When we set apart our lives unto Him, He will do wonders with us the likes of which we cannot imagine.
