When one tries to increase his knowledge by doing mental gymnastics over books without waiting upon God and looking to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, his soul is plainly in full swing. This will deplete his spiritual life. Because the fall of man was occasioned by seeking knowledge, God uses the foolishness of the cross to "destroy the wisdom of the wise.

As William Penn put it: "Those people who are not governed by God will be ruled by tyrants." Remember... that those tyrants are often self-imposed roadblocks of your lower self at work.

You will never get what you don't ask for. You can't find what you aren't looking for. "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

A lot of film directors are quite scared of actors. They are a bit of a nightmare sometimes, but I like them. It looks like cunning, but you try to get extra things from them all the time, by stealth, by making them feel confident, so they trust you and you can push a bit.

With God beside us every moment of the day, we are safe—even when bad things happen, even when God's timing is not our timing. He is our refuge.

George MacDonald, the nineteenth-century British preacher and author, said, "It is not the cares of today, but the cares of tomorrow, that weigh a man down. For the needs of today we have corresponding strength given. For the morrow we are told to trust. It is not ours yet. It is when tomorrow's burden is added to the burden of today that the weight is more than a man can bear.

Even when we are confused and struggle, if we will only stay in the conversation with God, He will take us where we need to go.

We can entrust our life into His hands. Jesus also teaches us the most important prayer any of us can utter: Your will, O God.

Our obedience to God will not always achieve the results we want, but our ultimate call is not to be successful, but to be faithful!

God is already in your next season, holding open the door and waiting for you to arrive. You might not know where you are headed, but He does—and that's where you have to keep your focus.

One of the marvelous results of obedience is that we actually get to receive and experience the "everything good" that is from God to us.

Prepare for life first thing in the morning. Open your eyes, take a breath, and then thank God for it. With outstretched arms, ask God for wisdom, direction, and courage, that your life would be one of blessing, living as you were designed.
