Because this is war. The fight of your life. A very real enemy has been strategizing and scheming against you, assaulting you, coming after your emotions, your mind, your man, your child, your future. In fact, he's doing it right this second. Right where you're sitting. Right where you are.

In fact, the Devil is delighted when we spend our time and energy defending the Bible, as long as we do not get around to actually reading the Bible.

So where does one begin? With self-crucifixion. In effect, we go to our own funeral and bury the self-will so that God's will can reign supremely in our hearts. Our will has no power to do God's will until it first dies to its own desires and the Holy Spirit brings a fresh power within.

The rule of God comes to us as individuals, one by one. We invite his reign; we obey his voice.

Romans 6 - Our flesh is the instrument that Satan works through. When we say no to the flesh, we say no to the devil.

The devil will give up when he sees that you are not going to give in.
