Lust is a poor, weak, whimpering, whispering thing compared with that richness and energy of desire which will arise when lust has been killed.

It is a sin when I place myself deliberately in the place of temptation… either because I enjoy the prospect or because I'm not determined enough in my desire to overcome it.

Sin always finds it's root in our own selfish desires and self-gratification.

Believe me, you cannot stand still in your souls. Habits of good or evil are daily strengthening in your hearts. Every day you are either getting nearer to God, or further off.

Let us urge on every one who exhibits new interest in religion to be content with nothing short of the deep, solid, sanctifying work of the Holy Ghost.

The source and cause of all temptation is in the inward desire; that being purified or eliminated, outward objects and extraneous powers are utterly powerless to move the soul to sin or to temptation.

This life of supreme blessedness is an end, and the pilgrim who is striving towards it, the prodigal returning to it, must travel thither, and employ means to get there. He must pass through the country of his animal desires, disentangling himself from their intricacies, simplifying them, overcoming them; this is the way, and he has no enemies but what spring within himself.

Getting healthy isn't just about losing weight. It's not limited to adjusting our diet and hoping for good physical results. It's about recalibrating our souls so that we want to change — spiritually, physically, and mentally. And the battle really is in all three areas.

The more we fill ourselves from His life-giving love, the less we will be dictated by the grabby-ness of the flesh.

No matter how saved, sanctified, mature, and free we are, there are misalignments embedded in our souls.
