Maybe God was about to show him what he was made of.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Just as we have the tendency to run away from a shot or a dose of medicine, even if it's good for us, we have the tendency to run away from answers that touch painful areas in our lives.

People have to realize that just because you're a Christian, it doesn't mean that you're perfect, because every once in a while everyone stumbles.

I'm not good at a lot of things. I am not good at keeping my room clean. I am not good at eating healthy. I am not good at sports anymore. I used to be! Not so much anymore.

This much is certain, that we have no theological right to set any sort of limits to the loving-kindness of God which has appeared in Jesus Christ. Our theological duty is to see and understand it as being still greater than we had seen before.

The grace of God is never the cause for glorying in one's own power ... Perseverance is always opposed to false self-confidence.

Grace is at work even in fallen man ... to bend partially back in the right direction those human powers and endowments which were man left to himself would be wholly perverted.

Gather up these four results. Christians are not orphans, and therefore not desolate. In the strength of that peace they become His witnesses, because they have a perpetual vision of the Lord.

Our battle is today. Because of God's grace, yesterday doesn't count. Because of God's hope, worry about tomorrow is inappropriate.

Don't pass over this thought, because it's crucial: Isaiah 40:29 assumes that God will call us to various tasks for which we lack enough power on our own.

Don't run from the struggles of marriage. Embrace them. Grow in them. Draw nearer to God because of them. Through them you will reflect more of the spirit of Jesus Christ. And thank God he has placed you in a situation where your spirit can be perfected.
