If people in this country think of Africa as a place with kids and flies swarming around their heads, then they won't understand that these people are you and you are them.

What you realize when you work in the philanthropic world is that people aren't just numbers: they are families with real needs and you need to make your judgments with kindness and thoughtfulness in order to serve those needs.

Jesus is the movement for social justice, and the movement for social justice is Jesus in the present.

On the basis of the eternal will of God we have to think of EVERY HUMAN BEING, even the oddest, most villainous or miserable, as one to whom Jesus Christ is Brother and God is Father; and we have to deal with him on this assumption. If the other person knows that already, then we have to strengthen him in the knowledge. If he does no know it yet or no longer knows it, our business is to transmit this knowledge to him.

We can do little things for GOD; I turn the cake that is frying on the pan for love of Him, and that done, if there is nothing else to call me, I prostrate myself in worship before Him, Who has given me grace to work; afterwards I rise happier than a king. It is enough for me to pick up but a straw from the ground for the love of GOD.

It is more noble to give yourself completely to one individual than to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses.

When you give up yourself, that's when you will feel the true spirit of Christmas. And that's giving that's serving others and that's when you feel fulfilled.

If anyone were to ask me what I want out of life I would say- the opportunity for doing something useful, for in no other way, I am convinced, can true happiness be attained.

God dances with the outcast.

The hallmark of a healthy society has always been measured by how it cares for the disadvantaged.

Nobody can ever make enough money for as many poor relatives as I've got. Somebody's got a sick kid, or somebody needs an operation, somebody ain't got this, somebody ain't got that. Or to give the kids all a car when they graduate.

In serving the poor, one serves humanity.In serving mankind, one serves equity.In serving goodness, one serves God.In serving the Creator, one serves himself.
