Take a month and show some kindness for the folks who thought that blindness was an illness that affected eyes alone.

Whenever we are thinking too deeply and too hard about ourselves, it may be time to focus on doing something that serves somebody else.

I don't believe in being emotionally detached from patients. I work with and operate on human beings, all creatures of God, people in pain who need help. I don't know how I can work on a girl's brain--how I can have her life in my hands--and yet not become involved. Where I grew up - I grew up on the north side of Akron, lived in the projects. So those scared and lonely nights - that's every night. You hear a lot of police sirens, you hear a lot of gunfire. Things that you don't want your kids to hear growing up.

You cannot sift out the poor from the community. The poor are indispensable to the rich.

To lose yourself in righteous service to others can lift your sights and get your mind off personal problems, or at least put them in proper focus.

We should be about our Father's business by pouring His compassionate love into aching and parched souls that have nowhere to turn, no one to love, and no one to care. Let them see Jesus in us. That is a living testimony.
