Let's be careful, though, that we don't err in the opposite extreme of faithless caution. A big difference exists between trying to manipulate God to give us what we want and cooperating with God so He can give us what He wants. The latter is our goal.

Have you ever wondered why God goes to the trouble of sanctifying us? He could instantly zap us into His image the moment we decide to follow Jesus, or He could transport us into heaven the moment of our conversion. Why would He opt for taking us through the long, drawn-out process of planting, watering, pruning, and harvesting? But sure enough, He rolls up His sleeves, puts palms to the dirt, and begins putting the pieces of our lives together in a way that matters.

The longer I live, the less I find God to be a hand shaker. Hand holder? Yes. Hand shaker? No.

The harvest may not become obvious in our lifetime, but it will surely come. So thank Him in advance every time you sow. Tirelessly plant the things of the Spirit in the soil of earth. Let nothing make you quit. Though the harvest tarry, it will surely come.

Don't get discouraged if you don't have or don't presently practice everything God desires of you. Pray for what you lack! When you pray God's will, you will receive what you ask!
