One of the most subtle burdens God ever put on us as saints is the burden of discernment concerning other souls. He reveals things in order that we may take the burden of the souls before Him and form the mind of Christ about them. It is not that we bring God into touch with our minds, but that we rouse ourselves until God is able to convey His mind to us about the one for whom we intercede.

God never gives us discernment in order that we may criticize, but that we may intercede.

To the degree that we abide in Him, Jesus will use us to intercede. For this reason, His Church is called to be a "house of prayer for all the nations" (Mark 11:17). Satan is called "the accuser of our brethren…who accuses them before our God day and night" (Rev. 12:10). To the degree that the enemy has access to our lives, he will use us to accuse and criticize the brethren.

Before we receive any knowledge of God's Fatherly good will for us, the blood of Christ must intercede for us and restore us to God's favor.

What about your church prayer meeting? Is it tucked away somewhere because there is a busy program in operation and folks have no time to stop and pray? What would happen if your whole Sunday school gathered together for one hour to wait upon God, to beseech Him to pour out His blessing on your church? Too frequently our programs make no room for God's presence or for His power to work. Churches have plenty of people ready to interfere, but very few willing to intercede.

Those who join the Carmelite Order are not lost to their near and dear ones, but have been won for them, because it is our vocation to intercede to God for everyone.
