Faith is the assurance that the best and holiest dream is true after all.

Many Christians who profess Christ do not live as though they possess Him.

God is not satisfied with appearance. God wants the garment of justice. God wants his Christians dressed in love.

True virtue never appears so lovely as when it is most oppressed; and the divine excellency of real Christianity is never exhibited with such advantage as when under the greatest trials; then it is that true faith appears much more precious than gold, and upon this account is found to praise and honour and glory.

Is you own religion authentic or false? genuine or fake? I do not ask what you think about others. Perhaps you may see many hypocrites around you. You may be able to point to many who have no "authenticity" at all. This is not the question. You may be right in your opinion about others. But I want to know about yourself. Is your own Christianity authentic and true? or nominal and counterfeit?

The greatest enemy of true faith has always been religion (notice who Jesus reserves his harshest words for), and a religious attitude is not what we are after.

If God cared only about religious activities, then the Pharisees would have been heroes of the faith.
