God is not satisfied with appearance. God wants the garment of justice. God wants his Christians dressed in love.

We can dream of an America, and a world, in which love and not money are civilization's bottom line.

Christians should see Muslims, who give ultimate allegiance to God as the supreme good, as allies in resisting the tendency in contemporary culture to see mere pleasure, rather than justice and love, as the hallmark of the good life.

What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive and that love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice. Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.

The bible informs us, compels us to care for the poor, to love the outcast, to serve the needy.

When I am commanded to love, I am commanded to restore community, to resist injustice, and to meet the needs of my brothers.

Jesus is nuts about kids. He doesn't seem to think much of lawyers which really lands close to home, but He's nuts about kids and loves justice.

For the LORD is righteous; He loves justice. The upright will see His face.

Jesus died for our sins not so that we could sort out abstract ideas, but so that we, having been put right, could become part of God's plan to put his whole world right. That is how the revolution works.

Those who aren't following Jesus aren't his followers. It's that simple. Followers follow, and those who don't follow aren't followers. To follow Jesus means to follow Jesus into a society where justice rules, where love shapes everything. To follow Jesus means to take up his dream and work for it.

God's justice, as Desmond Tutu insisted, is not retributive but restorative. It is natural that many do not understand this, because "God's love, resisted, is felt as wrath.

When we're in our right minds, we are hopeful. Because the arc of the moral universe does bend toward justice, nature does bend toward healing, and the heart does bend toward love.
