If you get down and quarrel everyday, you're saying prayers to the devil, I say.

While we yearn for peace, we live in a world burdened with hunger, pain, anguish, loneliness, sickness, and sorrow.

Nobody's ever tried the peace thing, ... We are selling it like soap.

I have seen war. I have seen war on land and sea. I have seen blood running from the wounded. I have seen men coughing out their gassed lungs. I have seen the dead in the mud. I have seen cities destroyed. I have seen 200 limping, exhausted men come out of line—the survivors of a regiment of 1,000 that went forward 48 hours before. I have seen children starving. I have seen the agony of mothers and wives. I hate war.

What's the point of the war? Why, oh why can't people live together peacefully? Why all this destruction?

You either get tired fighting for peace, or you die.

The purpose of all war is peace.

Peace is not only better than war, but infinitely more arduous.

The purpose of all wars, is peace.

There come times when we have to fight for peace.

For now I see peace to corrupt no less than war to waste.

IF IT IS POSSIBLE, AS FAR AS IT DEPENDS ON YOU, LIVE AT PEACE WITH EVERYONE. Most people prefer to live peacefully with others, but when there are conflicts, many wait for the other person to make the first move. Problems inevitably arise when both parties wait for the other to take the first step.
