Father, help these young people to see. Help them to show the world that our greatness is not in things we do for ourselves, but in things we do for others. In power that channels itself into kindness, in a hand outstretched in love.

When I got religion, I found some work to do to benefit somebody.

simple availability is the most powerful force we can contribute to help calm the fears of others. Instinctively, I shrink back from people who are in pain.

If you'll dare to take your mind off your troubles, get your mind off your own needs and, instead, seek to be a blessing to other people, God will do more for you than you could even ask or think.

One of the great ironies of life is that if you give up your life, you gain it. If you help others, you benefit. If you lose yourself, you find yourself.

If you will first help people get what they want, they will help you get what you want.

Produce second-mile followers. If you go out of your way to care about others and help them, then they will go out of their way to help you when you ask them to.

I started to ask Him to bless others and prayed this verse of abundance over them. "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:8). I asked Him to help others succeed. "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others" (Philippians 2:4 ESV).

When it comes to helping another human being, you can treat the symptoms or you can treat the cause. Most people dabble in symptom management, and that is why most people don't seem to be getting better.

Work will cure your grief. Serve others.

Hail to the man who went through life always helping others, knowing no fear, and to whom aggressiveness and resentment are alien. Such is the stuff of which the great moral leaders are made.

Man cannot really improve himself without improving others.
