I didn't want to need his affirmation. But part of our selves is spirit, and our spirits are thirsty, and my father's words went into my spirit like water.

Our daughters aren't the same people we are, nor are they extensions of ourselves. They are unique individuals in God's eyes, responsible to Him for the choices they make, not to their mothers.

Ask Jesus to help you fully understand the joys of obedience. Also, ask Him how you can be a woman fully committed to obedience without slipping into a legalistic approach to life. We must always remember our goal is pursuing revelations of Him. Our focus can't be just following rules but following Jesus Himself.

My job is to be obedient to God, to apply His Word, and to walk according to His ways — not according to the world's suggestions.

As I sat in silence, the spirit interceded with perfect prayers on my behalf

Teach a man a rule and you help him solve a problem; teach a man to walk with God and you help him solve the rest of his life.

To be clear, I am not listening for an audible voice, as I would if you and I were talking. I am listening for his gentle voice within, for that is where Jesus dwells—within our very hearts (Eph. 3:17).

Now, if I am having a hard time hearing God's voice, or being certain that I have heard, I will sometimes try on one answer, then the other. Still in a posture of quiet listening, I will add to my prayers, Are you saying yes, Jesus? Are you saying you want us to go? Pause. Listen. Or are you saying no—you don't want us to go? Often as we try on one answer or another, our spirit can feel the guidance of the Holy Spirit through a confirmation, or a strong sense of reservation.

I believe here's what the Bible teaches and from the Christian faith this is what I believe.

God's supernatural self-control is available to us when we walk by the Spirit.

The Negro revolution is controlled by foxy white liberals, by the Government itself. But the Black Revolution is controlled only by God.

Our unction, therefore, is the communication of the Holy Spirit, and nothing else.
