One of the things is we tend to give up too soon. We get knocked down a couple of times, and we stay down. It's so important to get back up again.

First, the line of progress is never straight. For a period a movement may follow a straight line and then it encounters obstacles and the path bends. It is like curving around a mountain when you are approaching a city. Often if feels as though you were moving backwards, and you lose sight of your goal: but in fact you are moving ahead, and soon you will see the city again, closer by.

If everything came easy, we wouldn't know what it felt like to truly succeed.

I assume everything I do in life is gonna be a failure, and then if it turns up roses, then I'm psyched.

Successful people don't have fewer problems. They have determined that nothing will stop them from going forward.

To THINK BIG and to use our talents doesn't mean we won't have difficulties along the way. We will--we all do. If we choose to see the obstacles in our path as barriers, we stop trying. "We can't win," we moan. "They won't let us win.

Refuse to be disheartened, discouraged, distracted from your goals in life.

There's too much at stake for you to let some little thing distract you and pull you down into defeat.

Never mind the odds against you. If you doubled your effort, what would the odds against you do — send for reinforcements?

Stop a bit and think it over. There do be some knots mighty aisy to tie but the untying is a cat of a different brade.

I've done my best and I begin to understand what is meant by the 'joy of the strife.' Next to trying and winning, the best thing is trying and failing.

Character produces endurance and persistence when the going gets tough, and life truly is an endurance race, not a sprint.
