The nation's honor is dearer than the nation's comfort; yes, than the nation's life itself.

But the right is more precious than peace, and we shall fight for the things which we have always carried nearest our hearts

Jesus is the best clue we have as to what God is like and He is consistently gracious and merciful, especially to those who are failures. He is harsh to uptight, judgmental people, but merciful and gracious to the failures. He seems to draw out the smallest kernel of faith in each person that He's with. So, I presume that that's the way God is going to judge humanity.

There is no real excellence in all this world that can be separated from the right living.

I know in my heart that man is good, that what is right will always eventually triumph, and there is purpose and worth to each and every life.

An intelligence that is not humane is the most dangerous thing in the world .

Goodness is about character - integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage, and the like. More than anything else, it is about how we treat other people.

Compassion is an act of tolerance where kindness and forgiveness reign. When we make the compassionate choice, we enhance the dignity of each individual, which is the very essence of loving them.

Kindness is the essence of greatness.

I choose kindness... I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone. Kind to the rich, for they are afraid. And kind to the unkind, for such is how God has treated me

I prefer to make a mistake because I am too kind than to perform miracles without any kindness.
