Death isn't terrible. The universe is full of love - and spring comes everywhere - and in death you open and shut a door. There are beautiful things on the other side of that door.

Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.

I feel tired and lonely and discouraged. Patience, sad heart. There's eternity. This life is only a cloudy day in what may be a succession of varied lifes.

Sometimes I wonder whether religion has been a curse or blessing to the world. It has much that is beautiful in it but it seems also to have caused hideous suffering

You're coming to Him not to get Him to enter your world and change things to make you happy and give your life meaning and provide you with the blessings you want. You're now entering His world wanting to bring Him glory, to become a source of joy to your Papa, willing to endure whatever suffering is required to make that happen.

So that whether the pain of a wound in the groin (cæteris paribus) is greater than the pain of a wound in the knee—or Whether the pain of a wound in the knee is not greater than the pain of a wound in the groin—are points which to this day remain unsettled.

I wonder many times that ever a child of God should have a sad heart, considering what their Lord is preparing for them.

The struggle of today, is not altogether for today - it is for a vast future also.
