The Teen Challenge ministry was born out of those humble early days of ministry. It now includes over 500 drug and alcohol rehab centers around the world, even in Muslim countries. These include homes for girls and women addicts and alcoholics, all which are reaching many.

By making sad ones happy, we find our happiness!

The whole idea of compassion is based on a keen awareness of the interdependence of all these living beings, which are all part of one another, and all involved in one another.

It's also selfish because it makes you feel good when you help others. I've been helped by acts of kindness from strangers. That's why we're here, after all, to help others.

May I never get too busy in my own affairs that I fail to respond to the needs of others with kindness and compassion.

I have always held firmly to the thought that each one of us can do a little to bring some portion of misery to an end.

Every day, try to help someone who can't reciprocate your kindness.

When a person finds themselves predisposed to complaining about how little they are regarded by others, let them reflect how little they have contributed to the happiness of others.
