Preferring the comforting messages of certain attributes of God, our lives have become a trifling with His holiness. We desperately need to regain this view of the highness and the holiness of God. His holiness is the ultimate clarity.

There is nothing more foreign, more alien, to our nature than holiness.

God is not going to negotiate His holiness... in order to accommodate us.

The failure of modern evangelicalism is the failure to understand the holiness of God.

The God of popular religion is not holy.

Holy is the Bible word for all that makes God different from us, in particular his awesome power and purity.

The true goal for man is to be what he does. The worth of a religion is the worth of the individuals living it. A mitsvah, therefore, is not mere doing but an act that embraces both the doer and the deed. The means may be external, but the end is personal. Your deeds be pure, so that ye shall be holy. A hero is he who is greater than his feats, and a pious man is he who is greater than his rituals. The deed is definite, yet the task is infinite.

He only is independently, infinitely, immutably holy. In Scripture He is frequently styled "The Holy One": He is so because the sum of all moral excellency is found in Him. He is absolute Purity, unsullied even by the shadow of sin.

Purity is not the same as morality but is about who or what is fit for the temple, and so classifications are made.

Scripture does not say that God is 'love, love, love' or that He is 'wrath, wrath, wrath,' but that He is 'holy, holy, holy.'

Don't take the holiness of God lightly, for it is the very essence of His character.
