Be strong, courageous, and firm; fear not nor be in terror before them, for it is the Lord your God Who goes with you; He will not fail you or forsake you. DEUTERONOMY 31:6

Take one of God's promises, like Joshua 1:9 (NIV), and mutter it over and over under your breath: Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Be content with what you have right now, knowing that God has perfect timing for the things you do not have yet.

Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give

Contentment with life is not a feeling, but it is a decision we must make.

The way of mammon (capital, wealth) is the way of commodity that is the way of endless desire, endless productivity, and endless restlessness without any Sabbath. Jesus taught his disciples that they could not have it both ways.

Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. Philippians 4:11—12, NLT

Poise can seem like a superficial posture, almost like one is acting as if everything is okay when things really aren't. I believe true poise goes much deeper and is a reflection of what we really believe inside of us. Paul's confidence in the goodness of God was so strong and sure that not even an empty belly threw him off his game. He was content whatever. I know my God is good, and I want to show that to the world, whatever.

No matter what you are going through, only two parties ultimately matter in your spiritual life: God and you. Two is good company but three is a crowd.

God, renew my spiritual eyes to see you walk before me and beside me as I turn to you in every situation of life. Thank you for being truly present in my worship of you!

The joy of following Jesus is the fellowship of living in His strength and knowing His presence as a moment-by-moment reality.

One of the consequences of covetousness is that it destroys the capacity to discern sufficiency. It distorts our thinking to the point where: Enough is never enough.
