How can an object that wants nothing, fears nothing, enjoys nothing, needs nothing, and cares about nothing have a mind?

And in our search for morality and happiness outside of God, we have effectively lost all three—God, morality, and happiness.

He was working hard at increasing his life span. He did it by cultivating boredom.

Nobody has a perfect life and it's entirely possible that if you want someone else's life they are busy wanting someone else's too—maybe even yours.

We can get excited by thinking about what all we have or can have, OR we can get discouraged by thinking about what all we don't have.

Contentment with life is not a feeling, but it is a decision we must make. Contentment does not mean that we never want to see change or improvement, but it does mean we can be happy where we are and will do the best we can with what we have. It also means we will maintain an attitude that allows us to enjoy the gift of life.

We are not jealous of what anyone else has if we have the same thing. Fear comes when we are afraid we will be left out or have to do without what we want.

An immature Christian is selfish, self-centered, and finds it difficult to be happy unless he is getting what he wants in life.

Contentment with life is not a feeling, but it is a decision we must make.

All goes back to the earth, and so I do not desire pride of excess or power, but the contentments made by men who have had little: the fisherman's silence receiving the river's grace, the gardener's musing on rows....

Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. Philippians 4:11—12, NLT

With God, we can be satisfied and fulfilled with very little, but without Him, all that we have will always be dry and deeply disappointing.
