What a grand thing, to be loved! What a grander thing still, to love!

Ask yourself: if that is what Jesus is all about - that is, getting us to love one another - then why did everyone reject him?

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. —1 JOHN 4:7—8

These changes reflect the Jesus Creed: Because Jesus loves others (us), he offers himself for us to replace the lamb. Thus, the Lord's Supper is Passover morphed by the Jesus Creed. The Passover lamb becomes the Lamb of God, and the Lamb of God leaves us a rhythm by which to remember what he has done for us.

Jesus himself was law observant, but what distinguished his praxis was that he did so through the law of double love. To do the Torah through love is to do all the Torah says and more.

John Wesley said this well: "The judging that Jesus condemns here is thinking about another person in a way that is contrary to love."3

The first principle of spiritual formation is this: A spiritually formed person loves God and others.

There is no better time than now, this very Christmas season, for all of us to rededicate ourselves to the principles taught by Jesus the Christ.

The law of love knows no bounds of space or time.

I] know that love is ultimately the only answer to mankind's problems....

Love is somehow the key that unlocks the door which leads to ultimate reality.

In deep disappointment I have wept over the laxity of the church. But be assured that my tears have been tears of love. There can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love.
