Does adversity build character? . . . It does not. Almost all people can stand adversity of one sort or another. If you want to test a person's character, give him power.

Failure exists only for the person who quits. I do not quit.

Adversity is preparation for greatness.

But to hit that target, we must come off the mountain, go through the valley, and begin to climb the next slope. It is in the valley that we slog through the lush grass and rich soil, learning and becoming what enables us to summit life's next peak.

Our lives may be swayed by gales of adversity, we may be drowning in the floodwaters of helplessness, but with strong hope we continue the search to find a way when all evidence shouts, 'Quit.

It is never the duty of a leader to struggle for someone else; a leader must encourage others to struggle and assure them that the struggles are worthwhile. Do battle with the challenges of your present, and you will unlock the prizes of your future.

THE SEVENTH DECISION FOR SUCCESS: I will persist without exception.

For this reason it is the dark that provides the leader with his greatest opportunities. It is your response to the dark that determines in large part whether or not you will be called on to lead. For the darkness is what keeps the average person from stepping outside the security of what has always been.

You have to come to your closed doors before you get to your open doors... What if you knew you had to go through 32 closed doors before you got to your open door? Well, then you'd come to closed door number eight and you'd think, 'Great, I got another one out of the way'... Keep moving forward.

Whenever you're going through a tough time, generally, you become more compassionate, you become softer, you become more thoughtful, kinder. These are all spiritual qualities that will help you to align yourself with God and God consciousness rather than with a split fear-based consciousness.

Where there is no struggle, there is no strength.
