The aim of the gospel is the creation of people who are passionate for doing good rather than settling for the passionless avoidance of evil.

The self was never designed to satisfy itself or rely upon itself. It never can be sufficient. We are but in the image of God, not the real thing. We are shadows and echoes. So there will always be an emptiness in the soul that struggles to be satisfied with the resources of self.

God's work does not make our work unnecessary; it makes it possible.

Lord, let me make a difference for You that is utterly disproportionate to who I am.

You're not all that God has called you to be, as a follower of Jesus, if you're missions-minded but not engaged in God's mission here and now.

God created us for this: to live our lives in a way that makes him look more like the greatness and the beauty and the infinite worth that he really is. This is what it means to be created in the image of God.

Fill each day with life and heart. There is no pleasure in the world comparable to the delight and satisfaction that a good person takes in doing good.

The essential support and encouragement comes from within, arising out of the mad notion that your society needs to know what only you can tell it.

God grant that I may never live to be useless!

Ability is a poor man's wealth.

Be true to yourself. Make each day your masterpiece. Help others. Drink deeply from good books. Make friendship a fine art. Build a shelter against a rainy day. Pray for guidance and give thanks for your blessings every day.

Do something every day to improve, beautify, and ennoble the life that Christ has purchased with His own blood.
