Always looking toward the next moment, the next month, the next event, rarely allowing myself the privilege of fully participating and embracing the happenings that were right before me for that day.

1. I DO SOLEMNLY RESOLVE to embrace my current season of life and will maximize my time in it. I will resist the urge to hurry through or circumvent any portion of my journey but will live with a spirit of contentment.

One of the gifts that comes with age is an appreciation for some of the more simple, more commonplace things that seem mundane earlier in one's life. As the years pass, the hidden treasure to be found in humble and unpretentious virtues becomes more accentuated—things like rest, silence, and the joy of an ordinary day. The attraction toward activity and achievement lessens, becoming slowly, steadily, and appropriately replaced by an interest in more internal matters.

Maybe it's just the accumulated stress and strain from a long season of steady struggle. Or maybe you aren't overwhelmed at all. More like underwhelmed—bored with the sameness and mundaneness of a life you thought would be filled with so much more adventure. The predictability, the pointlessness. Urgh. You so desperately want a change, or at least a little excitement along the way.

I'm the type of person, you see, who rushes ahead, who often just goes through the motions of any current activity on my way to the next one. My heart and my body haven't always been good about sharing the same space. Instead of relishing each moment, each year, each opportunity, each step on the journey, I'm constantly overeager to get to the next thing, which always looks more enticing that what's currently before me. I'm rarely satisfied in full with

Life is a gift, however long it lasts. It's God's to give and take away as He sees fit. We go through life thinking we're entitled to our ninety, but we're not entitled to anything. All we can do is trust that He knows what He's doing. That He has a plan for all of us, and that no pain He allows in our life will go unused.

The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away." If we can trust God to give, then we must also trust Him when He takes away".

I think it's healthy to say, 'I'm 58 and, do you know what, this is what a 58-year-old woman looks like.'

During the summer, I used to hate when my mom would call me inside to eat - it was such a drag to leave all the fun.

I'm not trying to be efficient; I'm trying to be present.

Of course I am an actor but I consider myself as an entertainer as well.

Entertainment, really, is a dying industry.
