A constant awareness of his superiority keeps things in perspective and, frankly, takes the pressure off. If God is in charge, I don't have to be—and neither do you. What a relief! So let your fear turn to wonder. And let your wonder turn to faith, as you believe in the One who saves you from yourself.

We truly live only one day at a time. It doesn't really help to worry about the future, which we can't control, or the past, which we can't change.

Always looking toward the next moment, the next month, the next event, rarely allowing myself the privilege of fully participating and embracing the happenings that were right before me for that day.

I understand that the current conditions in your life may not be your favorite thing to dwell on right now. You may have become very adept at concentrating on later, distracting yourself with the possibilities of the future. You may have grown accustomed to looking the other direction, daydreaming your life away, too overwhelmed at this point to even try figuring out solutions anymore for your present reality.

I'm the type of person, you see, who rushes ahead, who often just goes through the motions of any current activity on my way to the next one. My heart and my body haven't always been good about sharing the same space. Instead of relishing each moment, each year, each opportunity, each step on the journey, I'm constantly overeager to get to the next thing, which always looks more enticing that what's currently before me. I'm rarely satisfied in full with

I'm not trying to be efficient; I'm trying to be present.

Remember, today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

God has yet to bless anyone except where they actually are, and if we faithlessly discard situation after situation, moment after moment, as not being "right",we will simply have no place to receive his kingdom into our life.

Let's face it, stillness is not exactly easy to come by in today's culture. We are far more likely to be restless, anxious, fearful, fretful, and busy. But God's invitation is to be still—and to find again, in the calm pause, the assurance that He is, in fact, God. His plans are undeterred, and with or without us, He is going to receive glory from all peoples on the face of the earth.

The true felicity of life is to be free from anxieties and perturbations to understand and do our duties to God and man, and to enjoy the present without any serious dependence on the future.

Quit worrying about how everything is going to turn out. Live one day at a time; better yet, make the most of this moment. It's good to have a big — picture outlook, to set goals, to establish budgets and make plans, but if you're always living in the future, you're never really enjoying the present in the way God wants you to.
