Faith is not just something you have. Faith is something you do. It can turn a noun into a verb quicker than you can say, "See Spot run.

By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after being encircled for seven days. Hebrews 11:30

Then Jesus said to him, "'If You can?' Everything is possible to the one who believes." Mark 9:23

We live by faith. We love by faith. Faith and love are inseparable housemates that offer hospitality to hope. When we lose our faith to love, we lose the energy to love. Then we lose our hope.

Faith is the only thing that will ever close the gap between our theology and our reality.

To say "It's no use" is to say the Potter is not qualified to do what He does best. Take your chances on God. Put your life in His hands. Newness doesn't come from faith in yourself. It comes from faith in Him.

While we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord—for we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:6—7

At times God is too close for us to see. We lose sight of how He's working until months or years later, when we're able to step back and gain a broader perspective. I frequently think about Moses pleading with God to show him His glory. God knew Moses couldn't handle what he was requesting, so He told him He'd hide him in the crevice of a rock and cover him with His hand while His glory passed by.

Evolution and creationism both require faith. It's just a matter of where you choose to place that faith.

Nobody gets argued all the way into becoming a believer on the sheer basis of logic and reason. That requires a leap of faith.

To be a Christian means you become a part of the most significant story the world has ever heard. You don't become part of that without an ongoing questioning of what it means to become part of that.

Do not be afraid; only believe" (Mark 5:36).
