I testify that when we do all we can to accomplish the work that is before us, the Lord will make available to us the sacred key needed to unlock the treasure which we so much seek.

those who are desperate enough to know Him, seek Him, and obey Him will find themselves enjoying a richer and fuller life in Christ.

Those who won't take a chance don't have a chance.

It's the most essential thing of all just because it's not a matter of how you do it at all, but of whether you do it. Like being born, or cooking: how you do it is less important than whether you do it. You can find thousands of books on prayer that give you methods of praying, hundreds of hows; but they do you no good at all unless you actually pray. Otherwise it's like reading a cookbook instead of cooking. You can't eat a cookbook!

God, I don't know whether you exist or not. Maybe I'm praying to nobody, but maybe I'm praying to you. So if you are really there, please let me know somehow, because I do want to know. I want only the Truth, whatever it is. If you are the Truth, here I am, ready and willing to follow you wherever you lead.

Prayer is the kind of exercise that can lead to discouragement if we're not careful. Some of you reading this chapter are discouraged right now, because you keep trying to pray but you can't be consistent with it. Some of you are discouraged because you pray every day and still God has not answered your request.

I hold that belief in God is not merely as reasonable as other belief, or even a little or infinitely more probably true than other belief; I hold rather that unless you believe in God you can logically believe in nothing else

When I try, I fail. When I trust, He succeeds.

If you allow your enemy to steal your faith, he can destroy your life and ultimately kill your relationship with God.

Will we trust that God is good even when life is not? Our response to pain and challenges determines so much about our future. If we decide to trust, we will grow in our faith, deepen in our intimacy with God, and be conformed to the image of Christ. But if we allow our hearts to drift, we'll wake up one day drowning in doubts, buried in burdens, and feeling far from the only one who can help us heal.

But God does give us responsibility, and it takes biblical faith to do those things in dependence on God.

When you reach out to God humbly, you'll find that He's already reaching out to you.
