Half of all regular church-going adults admit that they have not experienced God's presence at any time during the past year. The younger the adult, the more likely they are to state that God is a distant, impersonal reality for them. And even among those who say God's presence was evident to them, most of them say that happened only one or two times throughout the course of the year.

We must not sit still and look for miracles up and doing, and the Lord will be with thee. Prayer and pains, through faith in Christ Jesus, will do anything.

God hasn't called me to be successful. He's called me to be faithful.

Christianity, if false, is not important. If Christianity is true, however, it is of infinite importance. What it cannot be is moderately important.

The opposite of faith is not doubt. The opposite of faith is disobedience.

Faith is never simply a feeling. Faith always involves movement. Get moving.

We are happy to have God in our vicinity even though he is not in our midst. We like to have God in general, but we think we don't need God in specific.

Of ultimate importance, then, is not that I become good, or that the condition of the world be improved by my efforts, but that the reality of God show itself everywhere to be the ultimate reality.
