character simply by listening to their conversation. The more loving our words and actions are toward others, the more loving and kind our thoughts will be.

Examine your heart, your inner attitudes, and your thoughts to see if there is anything there that God would not approve of. Do you have bitterness or resentment? Have you allowed a critical or judgmental attitude to take root? Is your heart tender or hard? Are you open to the opinions and ideas of others or have you closed your heart? The Bible says that we have the responsibility of keeping and guarding our heart in the right condition.

June 25 Be Kind and Encouraging It [Love] is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. 1 CORINTHIANS 13:5

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty (snobbish, high-minded, exclusive), but readily adjust yourself to [people, things] and give yourselves to humble tasks.

Real love has little to do with gooey emotions and goose bumps; and it has everything to do with the choices we make about the way we treat people.

As a Spirit-filled believer, you need to take the initiative to treat people the way you want to be treated, not the way they treat you.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. GALATIANS 5:22—23 NIV

An inexhaustible good nature is one of the most precious gifts of heaven, spreading itself like oil over the troubled sea of thought, and keeping the mind smooth and equable in the roughest weather.

A kind heart is a fountain of gladness, making everything in its vicinity freshen into smiles.

Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. Philippians 2:3—4, NLT

Shall we make a new rule of life from tonight always try to be a little kinder than is necessary.

The most important aspects of our lives cannot be rushed. We cannot love, think, eat, laugh, or pray in a hurry...When we are in a hurry--which comes from overextension--we find ourselves unable to live with awareness and kindness.
