Eighteen years ago, the Holy Spirit led me to establish a church in the heart of Times Square.

A new breeze is blowing, and a world refreshed by freedom seems reborn; for in man's heart, if not in fact, the day of the dictator is over. The totalitarian era is passing, its old ideas blown away like leaves from an ancient, lifeless tree.

The moment she removed his head from the body, she felt the strange and intoxicating touch of freedom. That anonymity of the body was a suddenly discovered paradise. With an odd delight, she expelled her wounded and too vigilant soul and was transformed into a simple body without past or memory, but all the more eager and receptive. She tenderly caressed Eva's face, while the headless body moved vigorously on top of her.

The love of freedom is actually an aberration.

Sometimes broken things deserve to be repaired.

The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons.

Such was the transformation which had come over European society in the course of ten Christian centuries. Slavery had gone, and in its place had come that establishment of free possession which seemed so normal to men, and so consonant to a happy human life. No particular name was then found for it. To-day, and now that it has disappeared, we must construct an awkward one, and say that the Middle Ages had instinctively conceived and brought into existence the Distributive State.

Freedom is a sentiment associated with the youth. It is rebellion. It is what you feel at that age, and it is very important.

My greatest disappointment is that I believe that those of us who went through the war and tried to write about it, about their experience, became messengers. We have given the message, and nothing changed.

The true danger is when liberty is nibbled away, for expedience, and by parts.

I'm not excusing crime or those who bring poison into the community, but I do want brothers and sisters in prison to know someone cares.

When people decide they want to be free, there is nothing that can stop them.
