somehow we have overlooked the fact this treasured called the heart can also be broken, has been broken, and now lies in pieces down under the surface. When it comes to habits we cannot quit or patterns we cannot stop, anger that flies out of nowhere, fears we cannot overcome, or weaknesses we hate to admit--much of what troubles us comes out of the broken places in our hearts crying out for relief. Jesus speaks as if we are all brokenhearted. We would do well to trust His perspective on this.

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty.

We stand for freedom. That is our conviction for ourselves that is our only commitment to others.

Seeking to be free of something and freed to something.

It is a curious sensation: the sort of pain that goes mercifully beyond our powers of feeling. When your heart is broken, your boats are burned: nothing matters any more. It is the end of happiness and the beginning of peace.

The ultimate form of censorship is assassination.

It would be great to do a story and get somebody who is innocent out of jail. That's a wonderful thing.

Where you hadn't yet dealt with your shadows, you manifested shadowy situations. Broken parts of you encountered broken parts of others.

Dear God,        Please impress upon me        The vision of whom I am meant to be.        Reveal to me the bigger life        That You would have me live.        Undo the forces that keep me bound,        That I might serve You more.        Amen.

Until we heal the child we used to be, the adult we want to be doesn't stand a chance.

There is something in us that refuses to be regarded as less than human. We are created for freedom.
